NEWBURYPORT (CBS) — I bet you never began your school day with a tune. They do exactly that at a community elementary school.
Each Day, music rings out because the buses pull up at the Bresnahan School in Newburyport. It is the brainchild of the music educator, as we discovered, a song can change your whole outlook daily.

“I only want them to own music become part of the own lives and part of the school,” says music educator Gardner Rulon-Miller.
On Tuesday he had been greeting the pupils at Bresnahan Elementary with “This Little Light of Mine.”
“You go to the grocery store, you hear songs. You go to the bank, there’s music on. Why not when you get off the bus possess a songs?” He states.
“It fills me up with joy before I begin the afternoon,” one kid told us.

And that is the notion.
“Hopefully it makes them understand that music is only a great deal of fun. Everyone has mornings and mornings. I know I really do. And sometimes it’s those little things that wind up turning your daily life in ways you may not have anticipated,” Gardner says.
And because the buses pull away, the young folks are prepared to learn, using a song in their own hearts.
